Ed: Nice products and web site. I look forward to your blogs. :)
Just found out about you guys. I am an audio junky always looking for the holy grail. Your cables seem to have sound engineering principles. Guess I will have to try a few to see if I can get closer to the music.
Do you cook them or what is the break-in hours?
We can burn the cables with our cooker but after just 8 hours of playing music the cables should open up. Add another 42 hours and they should be very musical.
What exactly is an Inconel sheath? At first I thought the braid was tinned copper but I checked it out on the Internet and it appears to be a chromium alloy metal. Is this correct?
You are correct. The wire we wind the braid sheath with is a chromium super alloy. It is made by Special Metals. It has some copper and nickel and is non-magnetic with fairly low resistance. I will update our web site to clarify the material. Thanks!
I read the post on Audiogon about the Cardas RCA plugs and I agree with the poster that said they are good plugs given that Cardas uses them in his best cables. I see that you offer the Xhadow RCA's. What are the sonic benefits compared to the Cardas RCAs?
We listened to many RCA plugs and the Cardas Silvers were our preference. Some of our customers requested a copper-core RCA plug. We chose the Xhadow Precision RCA plugs for our upgrade option. These plugs are perhaps the best RCAs on the market but they do cost more.
Sonically the Xhadow plugs are slightly warmer and better focused. This depends greatly on system components and personal preferences. Overall the stock Cardas plugs are more open. The choice depends on your HF system balance. If you have a brighter system, the Xhadow plugs are a better choice.
Im new to your wesite and I like what you have to say about audio wire theory and materials. I'm new to Tube Amplification. I have a Reference ARC components. Do you recemend the stock or Xhadow
For tube gear. Xhadow plugs. Since they are pure copper with a silver plate, mids and highs are more natural.
